Scott Halasz
Associate Head Coach

Scott Halasz is entering his fifth season as associate head coach for the Utes and second season under the direction of head coach Hideki Nakada. The 2022 season marks the tenth overall year in Salt Lake City for Halasz.

The Utes made the NCAA Tournament in Halasz's first season, 2013. He then helped them to the best finish in program history during the 2016 campaign. In 2019, Halasz helped guide Utah in its return to the NCAA Championships, marking his third appearance to the tournament as a member of the Ute staff.

Halasz has worked with 10 All-Pac-12 performers and seven United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees that includes at least one selection from 2015-19.

The Seattle native joined the Utes after serving as an assistant at Pacific Lutheran University. Halasz has over 20 years of coaching experience and also served as a coach with the Washington Premier soccer club. He was also the Washington Premier ECNL Director and coached numerous Washington state ODP and EDP teams.

A men’s soccer assistant coach at Tacoma Community College from 2005-07, Halasz graduated from Seattle University in 2003.

Christine McBeath
Assistant Coach

Christine McBeath begins her second season as an assistant coach with the Utah soccer program. She joined the staff in July of 2021, joining head coach Hideki Nakada from Stanford.

In her first year as a Ute, McBeath helped guide Utah to an increased win total from 2020 to 2021. She focused on the backline that limited opponents to 1.1 goals per game and limited to 129 shots at Ute Field. The backline was anchored by a duo of underclassmen Ragan Fuller and Maryn Granger, who return for the 2022 season.

McBeath comes to Salt Lake City after spending the 2020 season on The Farm as a volunteer assistant. During her time in California, McBeath was the girl’s academy head coach for the Palo Alto Soccer Club during the 2021 season.

A former standout from St. John's, she started in 55-of-66 games and was a mainstay for the Red Storm backline. After seeing action in 11 games her first year, McBeath won the starting position and started every game for the rest of her career at St. John's.

In addition to serving as team captain her senior year, McBeath took full advantage of her time as a student-athlete and served on the executive board of St John's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She was also involved in the BIG EAST Conference's "It's on Us" campaign for sexual assault prevention awareness and served for Community Mayors in New York City, an organization dedicated to hosting events for special needs children in the area.

McBeath graduated from St. John's with a degree in finance from the Tobin College of Business in December of 2019.
